Daniel Ordower has designed award winning lighting for theater, dance, opera, installations, trade shows and special events throughout North America and Europe.

His opera designs include Los Angeles Opera, Connecticut Opera and three seasons with Baltimore Opera. Internationally, Daniel has realized designs at Teatro all Scala, Opera National de Lyon, and Festpielhaus Baden-Baden. In New York, Daniel designed dance for MOMIX, Billy Siegenfeld’s Jump Rhythm Jazz Project and Calvin Wiley Dance Theater.

Daniel has worked at some of the pre-eminent regional theaters in the US including San Jose Rep, Geva Theater Center, Portland Center Stage, Coconut Grove Playhouse, American Stage Co, Actors’ Express, and Writers’ Theater Chicago. Nationally, he has designed the lighting for the Boston, Reno, San Diego, and National Tour companies of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change and tour companies of West Side Story and Beauty and the Beast. His designs have also been seen on board Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Princess Cruise Lines.

In New York, Daniel’s Off-Broadway designs include Pieces (of Ass), Ears on a Beatle, Sholom Aleichem—Now You’re Talking, It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Murder, Cooper Savage, and the revival of Mark Ravenhill’s Shopping and Fucking. He has worked extensively at the legendary La Mama and PS 122 performance spaces.

Festival and installation designs include MAKOR II at Pace-Wildenstein Gallery for Michal Rovner, The Tribeca Film Festival, New York Musical Festival, and The New York Fringe Festival. Benefit concerts include designs for Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS Gypsy of the Year and Nothing Like a Dame, the NYCLU, Project ALS, The Stonewall Foundation, and The Audubon Society. Some of his most notable corporate clients include The Walt Disney Companies, Stella McCartney, Louis Vuitton, The National Retail Federation, Maxim, Sean John, Kohler, Clinique, Henri Bendel, The Waldorf-Astoria, Creative Realities, Inc., Cunning Stunts, Verizon, and Vitamin Water.

Daniel has received three Portland Drammy Awards for Best Lighting, the 2005 NY Innovative Theater Award for Best Lighting, and an OOBR award for Best Production. He has recently published an article on politics and theater for Social Policy magazine.

Daniel has been the Associate Lighting Designer for The Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall, the National Tour and German productions of 42nd Street, as well as for the Los Angeles Opera multimedia production of Wagner's Ring Cycle designed by Achim Freyer. On Broadway he was the Assistant Lighting Designer for 42nd Street, The Civil War, and You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, among others.

He has been a guest designer and lecturer at Northwestern University, SUNY Purchase, and Columbia College in Chicago. A native of St. Louis, Daniel is a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829 of IATSE and a graduate of Northwestern University.
